Jenny Cheng
Ms. Jenny CHENG
“The person is not the problem, the problem is the problem” (Michael White and David Epston). Jenny engages this ideology with cases (practice over 400 hours) in Christian New Life Association which caters in-patient rehabilitation to the male adult with substance abuse since 2017. Taking the traumatic stories with respect and care, Jenny facilitates people to view and describe their problems with a wider and thicker perspectives and choose to respond in a way that can represent their faith and life commitment. As an active member of Narrative Community, she and her peers have developed a diabetes patient therapeutic support group to assist the diabete patients to re-author the problem saturated story (chronic illness and the complications) and achieve harmony between oneself and disease. Besides she frequently takes the leading role in several Narrative Therapy introductory courses and monthly seminars which aims to develop a supportive, non-blaming and caring group during the pandemic. Jenny continues to work with adolescents and adults on life issues under the umbrella of Community Matters in practice.
