Shirley Chan

I was born in Hong Kong, where my early years shaped my deep respect for resilience and community. For nearly a decade, I worked as a school social worker, walking alongside students, families, and communities through challenges that taught me humility and empathy. Later, moving to Australia broadened my perspective — I had the privilege of supporting people from diverse backgrounds, through different organisations and private practice, including Indigenous communities, local residents, and migrants from around the world.

Across these journeys, I have come to see each encounter as opening a unique life story. Listening with care and walking together through difficulties has become my guiding principle. My philosophy is simple yet profound: life influences life ”以生命影響生命”. I believe change is possible when we honour each person’s narrative and create space for growth.

More About Me ...

Growing up in Hong Kong, I was shaped by its education system, vibrant city life, and a decade of professional work. In 2020, I moved to Perth, Australia, where life has been a joyful journey — connecting with people from diverse cultures has taught me to be more flexible, to listen with care, and to respect differences. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking in Hong Kong, road trips across Australia, gardening, painting, and finding peace in nature. I also love animations, movies, and spending time with my friends and animals — they bring me comfort and joy.
